MGNF alleges bias over suspension of 3 nurses

MGNF has demanded a justification of the “discriminatory” decision taken by the civic administration.

The organisation has questioned whether the administration investigated chief officer of the drug store, medical officers, and saline manufacturing company on stocking expired saline at the store.

“The departmental enquiry was only for the nurses and not for the medical officers or drug stores. This is unfair and a convenient conclusion was drawn by blaming small workers,” said President of MGNF, Anuradha Athavle at a press conference.

“The authorities must scrutinise the resident medical officer (RMO) and head of the department of drug stores as well. Besides, nurses working at the hospital are insufficient,” Athavle said.

Athavle has also demanded withdrawal of the suspension by January 19, otherwise, the organisation will agitate against the PCB.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PCB, DN Yadav had suspended three nurses on the basis of a preliminary inquiry and filed a charge sheet for ‘negligence on duty’.
“The decision has been taken according to the reports submitted by FDA, Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) and police. All the reports have found them guilty. Also, the FDA had asked the PCB to file a case under criminal law, but the Board refused to take such an extreme step against them. Instead, suspension was seen as a wiser decision. If the nurses insist, we may file a criminal case,” said Yadav.

“In case more names come out during the investigation, we will definitely take action against them. All the documents and reports are available with me. Whenever they feel the need to verify it they can visit my office for the same,” added Yadav.
